To top this off the handle is also fitted with brass pins, which look really smart! The swell of the handle is shaped almost perfectly for the average sized hand, with a sizable finger choil as a good safety feature. This gives the knife a nice weight balance and grip. The handle on this version of the Condor Bushlore is hard wood. The fact that it is full tang is also a great asset! The blade length is pretty much perfect for all your bushcraft and outdoor needs, not too long that it’s a burden, not too short that it can’t perform heavy duty tasks. The 1075 Carbon Steel blade is a great steel, and when you couple the steel with the Scandi grind you get one very strong and effective cutting tool. It is a superior camp knife which has been crafted with hard-use in mind. If you read some of the other "expert" reviews they have some negative comments in reference to the Woodlore clone, but mine was quite good and saw some of the newer models and they were exceptionally well done in the fit and finish. The Condor Bushlore is one of our top selling outdoor knives. I have a great one with the Condor Axe beside the "Satar Banko" 110 year old axe I just finished restoring.īasically I am now a huge fan of the Condor line and will definately be adding more to the line-up. I am sorry that I don't have the photos to put up here as I forgot my iPod on my way to work tonight, but will hopefully have them up later in the week. I also removed this coating with some sandpaper and smoothed out the surface with some 1000 grit wet/dry and the convex edge is very sharp and kept the edge after two hours use on both soft material (weeds and grass) and harder (dried balsam fir Christmas trees - still have about 60 to chop up). PLUS for a 25 dollar machete it came with a very solid ballistic nylon sheath with lots of steel rivets to be extremely safe and the steel was not some stainless mystery steel but 1075 carbon with a laqueured coating. After some use I found that the back of the hand grip (a very bright orange high quality plastic) had the bump that bit into my hand but 5 minutes with a file and some sandpaper and it was "Customized" to work great for me. Only one of my Condors came with a nylon sheath and that is the 18 inch El Salvador model machete. Same for the axe reviewers who complain that the edge on their 10 dollar POS made in PRC did not come shaving sharp and the nylon sheath was "cheap looking." Okay, end of rant, and BTW most of the Condors come with an extremely high quality thick leather sheath that is well rivited and seperately would be worth half of the purchase price. It is quite sad when you see some of the self-proclaimed "experts" that post reviews on products where they receive a 20 dollar blade and it is not as good as the 400 dollar custom jobs. It did not come with a good edge, but traditionally this is common for axes in the past as it was expected that the end user would take the head and then put the edge on it most suitable for it's intended purpose. No question about it, I was extremely impressed.Īs for the axe, initial impressions very favourable. ![]() Rick Jones) and to what appeared to me to be many of the others in the chain of command at the factory. I sent a message through their customer service website at about 2200hrs friday night and by just after midnight I had a response to my question from the representatives in the factory in El Salvador, and he had forwarded my message both to the rep in the US (a Mr. I have heard Condor described as "the knife company that Cold Steel wants to be" as they offer outstanding products at extremely reasonable prices.Īdditionally I am extremely pleased with their outstanding customer service. I have about 8 other Condors in my collection and they are all great users. The reason I ask is that in the near future I hope to post up a review on the combined Father's day/ birthday gift I received from the kids when they pooled their allowance and I am new the proud owner (and father) of a new 1.5lb Condor Woodworking axe. ![]() Is it due to the fact that they are not very well known yet Down Under or are they difficult to import? ![]() I did a seach of the forum and found very few hits on Condor Knife and Tool here.
